Career Professionals to Explore Power of the Internet, Workplace Diversity, and Talent Management at 2005 Conference

These are breakthrough times for career professionals around the world as the Association of Career Professionals International meets in Chicago, IL for its 16th Annual International Conference April 14-17, 2005, at the Embassy Suites Hotels.

Several issues critical to employers and employees alike will be explored during three days of in-depth sessions. Highlights include:

From the Edge of the Internet: What Career Professionals & Candidates Need to Know Speaker Tony Lee, Editor in Chief and General Manager of CareerJournal.com - The Wall Street Journal's Executive Career Guide, will examine how the Internet became a factor in the career planning and job search process. He will offer a “reality check” on job boards and report on candidate pet peeves about online job searches. Lee will also compare the results of online searches in comparison to other job search methods career professionals advise for their clients. Finally, he will deliver advice from corporate recruiters and HR professionals on how candidates can search for jobs more effectively.

Talent Management: Who Really Has Control? Karen V. Lucas, Founding Partner, Executive Coaching Partners, will moderate a panel that includes Annemieke Van Der Werff, Senior Vice President, Head of Human Resources and Development, ABNAmro Services Company, Inc.; Steve Ashby, Director of HR, ESS-Global, a Member of Compass Group; Roxanne Hori, Assistant Dean and Director, Career Management Center, Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, and Dave Opton, Founder, ExecuNet - The Center for Executive Careers. This executive panel will explore the workplace tension between recruiting and training top people vs. the potential for these people to leave an organization once they achieve higher levels of success. Questions such as how to provide career opportunities for “star performers” and how to calculate the return on investment a company should expect when they invest in training their top people.

Corporate Diversity Initiatives: Transforming Challenges Into Success Phillip Roark, President & CEO, Insala, LLC, will moderate a panel discussion including Maribeth Bailey, Director, Career Management Services, Deloitte Services LP; Deborah Kuhn, Vice President and Senior HR Consultant, Career Services, JP Morgan Chase; Daphne Schechter, Senior Consultant, Workplace Fairness & Diversity Strategies, The Coca-Cola Company; and Brian Sorge, Vice President, Client Solutions, Lambert & Associates.

This group will discuss the many facets of corporate diversity initiatives and how to leverage career services programs to meet the next generation of coaching - multicultural development. Learn how these programs have helped organizations increase multicultural leadership, improve overall financial performance, enhance their public images, reduce turnover, and create a broader customer base.
